NYPD officers in Brownsville, Brooklyn are having success using social media to try to catch suspects, the New York Post reported. After searching through Facebook and other social media sights, they? found 199 guns last year alone, more than any other precinct in the city. When scouring the web, they look for pictures of weapons, threats against rivals, or other hints of possible gang activity.
According to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelley, 60% of murders in the city in January were committed with handguns and the majority of weapons are also handguns.
