Building on momentum, Romney renews push for Ohio

AKRON, Ohio (AP) ? Republican Mitt Romney is making a fresh bid for Ohio voters, trying to build on post-debate momentum to make up ground in a state that could help President Barack Obama hold onto the White House.

Romney is planning stops Wednesday in communities north of Columbus and Dayton, intensifying his efforts in the state after last week's strong debate performance.

Ohio remains a focus for both campaigns. After a West Coast fundraising trip, Obama on Tuesday visited Ohio State University, where he urged students to cast their ballots early.

The attention to Ohio comes amid signs that Obama's advantage in the state is narrowing.

A new CNN poll shows Obama leading Romney 51 percent to 47 percent among likely Ohio voters, indicating a tighter race.
