RolePlayGateway?

Being back home was the last place Danny expected to be on the dreary Sunday afternoon, but, there he was. The pastel green house was now rough at its edges and no longer were the front gardens up to par like his memory suggested. Did the rest of his family even live here anymore?

His brother Sam honked at him from inside his crappy 1995 Chrysler New Yorker, and drove off. The brothers exchanged waves from the rear-view mirror. Then Danny was on his own. Marion Creek hadn't changed much. Lucille's Creamery was still open, still packed with teenage customers, and Lucille was still at the front, serving ice cream like usual. The streets were lined with the usual street festival around this time of year, the snow dribbling slowly on each frosted head. There was a teenager and a pair of adults in charge of every booth at every house; except his. The Pierpont family never participated in in the street festival, his father wouldn't allow it. It didn't mean Danny, or Adam, or anyone of his three siblings didn't sneak out to the colorful display of booths. Maddie McLane's kissing booth, run on the side of the McLane lawn service booth, was where Danny received his first kiss. The park he'd often to escape to was still packed with teenage stoners on one side and adults with children watching from a weary distance, some even an old part of this group. This was the town that never changed. The town that passed in a driver's rear-view mirror.

"Holy cow shit, Danny Pierpy?" "Pierpy" was a nickname from an old best friend, the old receiver of letters from Danny, and a man that had changed a lot since he had left. But, that was expected.

Thankfully, it was a far enough distance for no one to hear except Danny, because heads would have turned. In such a small town, everyone had heard of the horrible fight between the Pierpont parents and their rebel son, and his best friend was the first to know he was leaving and the first to know he was home. Jason Alexander, for the first time, was actually in tears.

"You bastard, how'd you ever leave me?" Jason asked in the shoulder of Danny's leather jacket. Danny shrugged, which turned the small tears into a chuckle he remembered all too well. Jason slung his arm around his best friend's shoulders and started to reminisce on the happenings of Marion Creek since his departure. "Danny, you've missed the lot of it. Makeout McLane is actually getting married next month, and thought of you. Weird, right? School slut thinks of a kid she kissed and he obsessed over her," Danny took this moment to smack Jason upside the head, but he seemed too interested in his story to retaliate against the abuse, "the other twin of the famous Alexander twins, Jesse, is currently fawning other both of the Carlson sisters, but Phoebe seems more interested..." Jason could have gone on, but one special lady popped up.

Jason didn't know how to tell his best friend that the love of his life had moved on. He knew it was inevitable, but she hadn't told Danny in the letters he wrote, the few that broke them apart, and the guy was pretty important. The news would crush Danny. "So, what made you come back into town, Broseidon?"

Danny sighed, knowing the question would come up eventually.

Why was he home? Sam was still in New York, waiting for him to return from his "week-long visit". Danny could tell that Sam knew the truth, but Marion Creek was Hell for him and he didn't want to force his brother back in it. He had promised to be back for Christmas, permanently or temporarily, that was his call. Danny didn't respect his parents anymore. His father abused and his mother let it pass, they kicked Sam out on the street for being gay, and when it came time to man up or stand down, Danny was being the bigger man. After an especially heated fight, he grabbed a few things and met Sam on the edge of town.

He came back for his love and his only home in Marion Creek. He knew Jason would take him in, and he would find a way to make her fall back in love with him no matter the cost. "I want to see her again."
