It's been a little over a year since Cablevision launched Optimum for iPad with live streaming of all of its channels to the tablet, and now subscribers can experience the same thing on their computer with the Optimum for Laptops app. Available for Mac or PC it has a brand new interface and searchable guide, as well as the ability to manage DVR recordings and change the channel on cable boxes in the house. According to Cablevision its iOS app has been downloaded over a million times, we'll see how popular this followup is -- and if it spurs any new lawsuits from channel owners.

Now that they have another way of watching their channels at home, I am sure many Cablevision customers. I often hear that many who use the Optimum apps wish that they could stream outside of their home and watch their recordings. Personally, I like to use Dish Online since it lets me watch live TV or recorded shows whenever I want on my laptop. I like that it works outside of my house too, so I can be at the library or the coffee shop. Just the other day, a few co-workers at Dish and I were watch the most recent Saturday Night Live episode. There is no question that being able to watch TV online is exciting, and I hope that Cablevision customers can experience this one day!
